New Year League Implications
There’s one more game left before the finals. It’s a very close league. Here’s how each team is doing and what they can change next week. There’s lots of possible ties. The first tie break is ends won, then total points. Currently Teams Hufe, Johnson, Kupchik, and Vild all have 20 total ends. Grillo has 23 (you were credited average ends won on the night of the forfeit). Lappert has 15 ends, Massey has 14 ends, Sharp has 8 ends. Below the description of the implications is an image showing the analysis. In the grid, the W applies to a win by the team in bold. I did not check what would happen if teams tied.
Grillo – Pretty simple, win and you’re guaranteed the A event, lose and you’re in a tie breaker for A or B event.
Johnson – No tie breaks unless another game ties. If you win you’re guaranteed A event, if you lose you can be in B or C. To fall to C, Hufe and Vild would both have to win.
Vild – Lots of possibilities. If you win you’re in a tie break for A event, if you lose you’re either guaranteed C event or in a tie break for B/C event. Dropping to C event happens if you lose and Hufe and Kupchik both win
Kupchik – If you win you are either guaranteed A event or in a tie break for A/B. The guarantee comes if you win and Hufe and Vild lose. If you lose you’re either guaranteed C or in a tie break for B/C. The guaranteed C event is when you lose and Vild and Hufe win
Hufe – Winning doesn’t guarantee A event, but in most cases it puts you in a tie break scenario for A/B. You may be guaranteed B event if Grillo and Johnson both win. If you lose you’re in a tie break for B/C unless Kupchik and Vild both Win, then you’re guaranteed C.
Lappert – If you lose you’re guaranteed D event, if you win you’re either guaranteed C or in a tie break for B/C. That tie will be difficult to break since it will either be a 3 or 4 way tie with teams that each currently have 5 more ends.
Massey – With a tie your options are straight forward unless there’s another tie elsewhere. If you win you’re guaranteed C event, if you lose you’re guaranteed D event.
Sharp – You’re guaranteed D event.

Snow Day Reminder
There’s still a few people who haven’t let me know what they want me to do to square up the cancelled snow day. Please tell me which option you would like in writing, whether over slack or via email at leagues@diamondstatecurling.org. We have a few options to reimburse you for your lost league night. You can either receive a sub credit to be used in a future league or a coupon code for $25 to be used as a discount on a future league these two are the easiest for our club to handle on the back end. We can also credit $25 to the payment method you used to purchase the league. If you’re feeling generous you can also donate the $25 to the club, we’re a nonprofit 501(c)(3) and would greatly appreciate the donation. If you do not tell us which option you choose before March 17th, our default will be to provide you with a coupon code.
