Alright, your teams are listed below. Because it’s March Curling Madness, the teams are getting actual team names instead of “Team *Skip’s Name*” like we usually do. Hersch and Arthurton just haven’t given names yet, but they will. Your availability is again displayed next to your name. If changes need to be made to the availability, let us know. You can either email me at leagues@diamondstatecurling.org or message me, Brian Hufe, or Phil Wilcox on Slack. If you don’t have access to our slack channel yet let me know and I can send you an invite.

Schedule

Six teams doesn’t lead to a clean bracket, so we’re starting with a modified pool play. Week 1 games are set. The week 2 schedule will be determined by the first week games. Your ranking will be determined by points spiel format, where you are awarded 5 points for winning a game, 1 point per end won, and 1/4 point per rock scored. The rankings over the first wo weeks will seed the semi finals. Then the results of the semi-finals will seed the finals. Rankings in the finals will be determined by the semi-final games only, with previous rankings used as tiebreakers if necessary.

Themes, Games, and Prizes

As is tradition, March Curling Madness is about more than just competition! We’ve also got fun side games and prizes. For starters, each week will have a theme. Come dressed in line with the theme and you’ll get a ticket for a drawing at the end of the league for a $25 gift card to our online swag store! With four weeks of the league, that’s four themes, and four chances to win! What are the themes you might ask?

Week 1 –  Olympic Nations – We all had fun cheering on the Americans in Olympic Curling, and maybe some other nations as well. Come dressed in support of your favorite, or second favorite, Olympic Nation!
Week 2 –  Luck of the Irish – It’s St Patrick’s Day! Come dressed in green to celebrate the day, and we’ll sweep the snakes out of Ireland.
Week 3 –  Tie Dye – Go from one color in Week 2 to all the colors in Week 3. Come dressed in colorful Tie Dye.
Week 4 –  Diamond State – Come wearing your Diamond State Apparel for that end of league picture. Don’t have Diamond State apparel yet? We’ve got some for sale at the arena.

There are other fun games going on during the league as well.
Diamond Button Necklace – Shot stone ends up on the button? You get the necklace. Someone else does the same? You gotta give it up. Last person with the necklace at the end of the night wins a prize
Guess the Total – How many points will be scored that night on all sheets? Guess correctly and win a prize
